about the artist
Chioke Morais grew up between New York City and St. Louis, MO.
Attending Parson’s School of Design in New York, and launching his painting career in Chicago, he has shown at the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis and Chicago’s Elastic Arts Foundation.
In 2008, Chioke moved to Martha’s Vineyard and started a family. Inspired by the island’s natural environment, Chioke’s current work heavily features wood and ceramics. In 2011 he created the Bent Wing Mug, with its innovative handle.
His pottery and paintings have been shown at Featherstone Center for the Arts and A Gallery and he was a featured artist in the 2012 Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival in Chicago. His work is currently in private collections in Chicago, New York, Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii.
